Reach Radio Herefordshire Volunteer Opportunities

Reach Radio has a range of volunteering opportunities available. If you would like to get involved and have a few hours a week to spare we would love to hear from you. If you would like to find out more why not come along to our Open event at Saxon Hall, Hereford –  Saturday 7th September 2019, 6-8pm. As part of Saxon Hall’s annual Open evening, you will have the chance to meet the new trustees of Reach Radio, meet the Station Manager, take a tour of the Reach Radio studio and find out more about the range of exciting roles we have available. A snapshot of the roles we are looking for can be found below:

 

Non-Broadcast roles:

Administrator

Help with the day-to-day running of Reach Radio ‘office’; handle email, telephone or other enquiries; take meeting minutes and maintain action list; record keeping and filing; produce flyersand posters; help liaise with stakeholders, partners and connected organisations

Volunteer Co-ordinator

Recruit and manage volunteer pool to ensure roles are filled and continuous cover provided for on air positions; provide support and counsel; assess volunteers needs and arrange training

 Volunteer Chaperone

Safeguard vulnerable volunteers including under-18’s and those with profound or complex learning, physical or sensory disabilities. [this does not have to be a standalone role and could sit alongside another role. Incumbent must have a DBS enhanced check]

Community Liaison Champion

Promote Reach Radio’s mission to community groups, clubs, mentors, charities, schools and businesses. Be the focal point for our physical link with the community

 

Broadcast Roles

Researcher/Reporter

Support the day to day programming of Reach Radio; gather information on local events and issues, and providing package for use in shows reports; report live from events and/or conductinterviews and gather local flavour for use in future programming

Presenter

Present programs either live, pre-recorded or voice tracked; good knowledge of local community and issues; all round music knowledge; possible strength in specific music genre.  

Producer

Oversee smaller groups of presenters and researchers/reporters; manage production of programs and content; operate studio equipment for shows where less experienced team members are involved; good technical and computer skills will be very useful in this role.

None of these roles are exclusive and may be combined to make good use of team membersrange of skills and experience.

Reach Radio will be entirely run by volunteers.  We are also looking for volunteers to work in front of the microphone and behinds the scenes.  Our team of volunteers will be crucial to smooth running of the station and we need a range of people across a broad set of skills .

We are currently recruiting for volunteers to support the following areas:

  • Radio DJs
  • Production & Technical support
  • Event planning
  • Liaising with charities
  • Digital communication (social media and website development)
